On 1 April 2022, during Architectural Building Week in Sofia, the memorandum founding Renovate Bulgaria was signed. The eight founding signatories were:
- the Bulgarian Association for Construction Insulation and Waterproofing;
- the Center for Energy Efficiency EnEffect;
- the Bulgarian Facility Management Association;
- the Bulgarian Construction Chamber;
- the Bulgarian Association of Consulting Engineers and Architects;
- the Bulgarian-Austrian Consulting Company;
- the Shelter for Humanity Foundation, part of Habitat for Humanity International;
- the municipal network for energy efficiency EcoEnergy.
The campaign team welcomed the launch, in the hope that Renovate Bulgaria would help achieve the campaign’s main goal, reducing the energy demand of the EU building stock by 80% by 2050, through legislation and ambitious renovation programmes.
