Renovation is even more relevant at a time when a war is raging not far from Bulgaria, when energy prices have reached historic highs and energy is used as a weapon.
To preserve our people, our economy, our way of life and our democracy, we Europeans must do everything in our power to find a sustainable solution to these problems. The most sustainable solution is to reduce consumption without harming the comfort and health of people. Energy efficient renovation of the building stock is such a solution: an investment in our future, not a moment’s expense.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen opened Renovate Europe Day 2022 with a video address. In her remarks she stressed that making our buildings energy efficient is indispensable in the fight against climate change and for the EU’s energy resilience and independence, and that the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive is our opportunity to do so.
