At Renovate Europe’s fourth annual high-level conference, “Securing our Energy Future through Ambitious Renovation of Buildings”, the message to the new Commission, which took office that week, was clear: deep renovation of the building stock in the EU must be the number one priority of the Juncker Commission.
Fresh reports presented at REDay2014 demonstrated the newly researched multiple benefits of building renovation (the IEA report “Capturing the Multiple Benefits of Energy Efficiency”) and the significant economic impact of the buildings sector in the EU (the JRC report on the economic impact of the construction sector). City representatives and project leaders from Sweden, the Netherlands and Italy presented successful renovation projects that are financially viable and produce local jobs, lower energy demand and healthier homes.
The conference was held at the Thon Hotel EU in Brussels, under the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
